Coronavirus Update

 

Update on 23/03/2020

ADVICE FOR STUDENTS

Tonight Monday 23rd March 2020, the UK Prime Minister has announced strict new measures to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.

From this evening people must stay at home except:

  • to shop for essentials such as food
  • allowed outside for 1 x exercise session per day
  • any medical need
  • travelling to and from essential work

All shops selling non-essential goods such as clothing and electrical items will be shut.

And gatherings of more than two people who do not live in the same household is prohibited.

You must follow these rules and remain at home/ in your student accommodation.

If you do not follow these rules the police will have the powers to enforce them and you could face fines, and groups of people will be dispersed.

The UK Government will review these measures in 3 weeks’ time and will provide further updates.

ADVICE FOR STUDENTS

**CLOSURE OF CAMBRIDGE RUSKIN INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE**

Due to the increased global spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and in line with ARU, Cambridge Ruskin International College (CRIC) will close from Sunday 22/03/2020.

At ARU and CRIC we take the health, safety and wellbeing of our students and staff seriously, and so are taking proactive and precautionary steps by closing the college.

ARU and CRIC remains committed to supporting you throughout this difficult period. Please find the latest advice and support information about Coronavirus and COVID-19 from UK Government

We are continuing to follow advice from the UK Government and Public Health England and there may be further announcements. Please make sure you check our website for updates and ensure that we have the latest contact information for you.

All course programmes and modules are now being taught online. Please check your emails for updates and contact your tutor if you have any questions.

If you are unwell/ have tested positive to COVID-19 please let your college director/ course tutor know as soon as possible.

We will notify you as soon as we are able to resume face to face classes and will update you via email when we have more information. I encourage you also to check our website for regular updates.

Update on 17/03/2020

Switching to Online Teaching and Learning from 18th March 2020 
Students, staff and teachers have been communicated to.

**CRIC COLLEGE MOVES TO ONLINE TEACHING FROM 18/03/2020***

Due to the increased global spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and in-line with our University Partner ARU decision not run face to face to classes, CRIC College will now be delivering teaching sessions online.

We ask that students do not attend lectures on campus, and instead access their studies using the online platforms (details to follow)

The College and Campus remains open to students, though there may be some changes to opening hours for some campus facilities.

We understand that you may have concerns about the current situation, and we remain committed to supporting you throughout. Our College reception is open during normal office hours 08.30 to 17.00. Study, Assessment & Exam Advice

Many of you will have concerns about your classes, assessments and exams. We want to lessen the impact on your academic studies and support you as far as we can. Faculty staff are currently working through the arrangements for each programme and module and will update you on this.

Advice on self-isolation

We understand that the current situation will be a concern to many of you.

Current UK Government advice is to stay at home for 7 days if you have either:

  • A high temperature
  • A new continuous cough

You should also do the following:

We also encourage you to follow good personal hygiene:

  • handwashing for at least 20 seconds using soap and water, use hand sanitizer gel if soap and water is not available
  • cover mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough and sneeze
  • bin used tissues and wash your hands immediately afterwards
  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth

Confirmed test to COVID-19

If you are unwell/ have tested positive to COVID-19 please let your college director/ course tutor know as soon as possible.

Travel in the UK & Abroad

All overseas business travel is cancelled until further notice and all student field trips and visits in the UK and abroad have also been cancelled until further notice.

Many of you have asked about travelling home. This decision is up to you, but please do make sure that you check the latest travel advice and restrictions on the countries that you wish to visit. You may need to self-isolate when you return to the UK, so please keep this in mind.

Your Wellbeing

We take your health, safety and wellbeing very seriously. In this challenging environment we remind everyone that all members of our community should be treated with kindness, tolerance and respect. We do not tolerate behaviours that are contrary to this.

If you have experienced an incident that you feel uncomfortable about, we ask that you tell your college director/ advice support team as soon as possible so that we may support you.
